Holiday H/D comm?

I just realized that I've been on LJ way too long not to have my own community! Since I love Halloween and Christmas, and they're coming up, I thought, "Why not start a holiday-themed H/D comm?"
Right now, I'm thinking of having a few prompts per week for the month leading up to each holiday (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, Beltane (am I missing anything?)), but I'm also taking suggestions right here in this post. There wouldn't be any length requirements; anything from 100-100k words would be welcome.
*Edit: I'm leaning towards something like H/D seasons, which would include all the holidays but still have seasonal prompts throughout the year.
Let me know what you think by filling out this poll!

Date: 2010-08-26 04:20 pm (UTC)First, how about Wizarding holidays as well as Muggle? I know there's hd_beltane and hd_holidays, valentine's veela and boysofsummer, and so on, but a Calendar of Holidays as a prompt box of sorts rather excites me. With 'rites & traditions' associated, of course. As decribed in fic, or Muggle mythos, perhaps? Personally, I'd be inspired to write for Frigga's Day or Mabon, Ides or Janus. Hmmm...
Second, how about bi-weekly prompting instead of weekly for those of us who are perpetually belated? I am calendar-challenged and I miss so many things simply because I'm bopping about doing something else (belatedly). Be lovely to have less pressure than a weekly but more pressure than an open-ended prompting.
Third, how about incorporating the concept of holiday cards? I love epistolary fic and it's always a pleasure to see fic paired with art. We could all be sending each other greeting drabbles, illustrated! Or postcards ('I've missed you, so I've penned you this smutty PWP as a fond wish for your continued happiness' kind of thing.)
All in all, sounds very exciting! Looking forward to it and will gladly pimp and participate.

Date: 2010-08-26 04:32 pm (UTC)As for prompts, there will be monthly prompts, submitted by anyone who wants to, and maybe daily ones prior to major holidays (like a week of trick or treat or twelve days of Christmas).
I LOVE the cards idea! The mods and I will have to discuss it and see how we can incorporate it.
